Do you have an argument worth making or a story only you can tell?
Apply to represent ASU in the 2027 Regents’ Cup, a statewide competition featuring Oxford-style debate and persuasive storytelling.
No previous debate, speech or storytelling experience is required. Students from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Selected team members receive coaching as they prepare to compete against students from Northern Arizona University and the University of Arizona.

2027 competition theme
America at 250: Democratic Institutions
Competitors will explore ideas related to free speech, civil discourse and the role of democratic institutions through structured debate or personal storytelling.
Who can apply?
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled full-time at ASU in spring 2027
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Submit an application and essay by Nov. 13, 2026
Participate in team preparation and practices if selected
The competition will take place on April 10, 2027, at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus.
