10/01/2019 2020-2021 ASU Scholarship Portal Opens

The ASU Scholarship Application Portal collects your applications for several different scholarships, and saves your responses to common questions so that you don’t need to complete the information twice. There is no single application that you can complete; rather, you must choose which scholarships you wish to apply for and complete an application for each one. You can find a list of scholarships that have portal applications on our scholarship search.

01/01/2020 ASU Scholarship Portal Application Deadlines Begin

Most deadlines for the 2020-2021 year occur between January 1 and March 1. It is important that you review deadlines carefully as they do vary. Scholarship awards are very competitive and if you are selected, you will be notified by the awarding office noted in the scholarship listing. Scholarship recipients are typically notified of selection in April and May.

01/15/2020 2020-2021 FAFSA Filing Priority Date

Submit your FAFSA before ASU's priority filing date of January 15 each year to maximize the amount of aid you receive. Eligible students who apply by this date have a greater chance of receiving need-based aid. The priority filing date is not a deadline, so still submit your FAFSA even if the priority filing date has passed.

01/15/2020 2020-2021 Obama Scholars Application Deadline for first-year students and Current Participants

You must submit your FAFSA and have a complete ASU admissions application on file (application, test scores, transcripts and application fee) in order to be considered for the Obama Scholars Program. This deadline applies to both incoming first-year students and current Obama Scholars. For more information about the Obama Scholars Program, please click here. Meeting criteria and deadline dates does not guarantee placement in the program as funding is limited and the program will close when available funds have been exhausted.

*There are no exceptions to these dates. The FAFSA must be free of errors and the admissions application with all necessary materials must be complete to be eligible for consideration. Be sure to apply early in order to resolve any errors or issues before the deadline dates.

01/15/2020 2020-2021 ASU College Attainment Grant Program Application Deadline for Current Participants

You must renew your FAFSA by this date in order to be considered for renewal in the ASU College Attainment Grant Program. This deadline applies to current participants. For more information about the ASU College Attainment Grant Program, please click here. Meeting criteria and deadline dates does not guarantee placement in the program as funding is limited and the program will close when available funds have been exhausted.

05/01/2020 Recommended Deadline to Submit New Test Scores for First-year Merit Scholarship Upgrade Consideration

ASU will review your eligibility for a higher first-year merit scholarship if new test scores are received by ASU prior to the first day of classes for fall 2020. Be sure to request that your test scores be sent directly to ASU from the testing service. Contact your ASU admission rep for more information

06/01/2020 Obama Scholars Must Confirm Their 2020-2021 ASU Housing Plans

You must confirm your ASU housing by June 1 for your housing assignment to be finalized by August 1. If your housing assignment is not finalized by August 1, your budget will be changed to an off campus or at home with parent budget. As a result, your awards will be adjusted (i.e., reduced) accordingly. Visit the University Housing website for more information.

If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient who has all outstanding documents submitted and enrolled in fall 2020 session A or C, you may obtain your textbooks for the semester at the ASU Bookstore and have your book charges billed to your student account. If you are eligible, you will be sent an ASU email each semester with instructions. For more information, click here.

08/01/2020 2020-2021 Scholarship Appeal Submission Deadline

If you had your scholarship revoked, you can submit an appeal if you experienced significant, extenuating circumstances beyond your control. Please see the form for a list of scholarships that are eligible for appeal.

08/05/2020 Deadline to use Pell Book Deferments Online for Fall 2020 (sessions A and C)

If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient who has all outstanding documents submitted and enrolled in fall 2020 session A or C, you may obtain your textbooks for the semester at the ASU Bookstore and have your book charges billed to your student account (online purchases only). If you plan to use this benefit, you must do so online by 6pm on this date. For more information, click here.

08/13/2020 Fall 2019 Refunds Begin (sessions A and C)

For students enrolled in sessions A or C - Financial Aid and Scholarship Services begins the process of disbursement on August 10, 2020, however, the first refunds to students via mail or direct deposit will begin on August 13, 2020. All Financing Tasks listed on My ASU must be completed and student must be enrolled to receive first available disbursement. Disbursements will be made periodically once classes begin. For more details, please click here. Your disbursement date may be different if you are in a dynamically dated course (i.e., a course that is not a session A, B or C course).

08/21/2020 Fall 2020 Census Date (session A)

10/02/2020 Deadline to use Pell Book Deferments in-person for Fall 2020 (session B only students)

If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient who has all outstanding documents submitted and enrolled in fall 2020 session B, you may obtain your textbooks for the semester at the ASU Bookstore and have your book charges billed to your student account (in-store purchases only). 10/13/2020 Fall 2020 Consortium Agreement Submission Deadline

An ASU Consortium Agreement allows ASU degree-seeking students to receive certain financial aid awards based on their combined enrolled hours between ASU and another school during the same semester (i.e., enrolled at ASU and a community college during the same term). Please see the form for requirements, instructions and disbursement details.

10/13/2020 Fall 2020 SAP Review Submission Deadline

Submit your Satisfactory Academic Progress Review form before this date in order to appeal any SAP violation for the fall 2020 semester. Appeals submitted after this date will be considered only for regaining eligibility for the next semester.

11/30/2020 Fall Only Students - Deadline to Submit 2020-21 Student and Parent Reviews

If you are attending ASU for fall 2020 only, you must submit 2020-2021 Student Budget Reviews, Student Income Reduction Reviews and Parent Reviews along with all required documentation by this date in order for a reevaluation of the FAFSA and awards to occur.

12/12/2020 Last Day to Accept Fall 2020 Loans

At 5 p.m. (Arizona time), any loans that are not accepted will not be eligible for disbursement in the fall term. If you are enrolled in the spring term at least half time and have not used all of your annual loan eligibility for the academic year, you may be eligible to receive Federal Direct Loans in the spring term. Remaining loan eligibility for the spring term is determined by your current grade level, dependency status and cost of attendance.
