A message from the Arizona Board of Regents

Dear Students,

On behalf of the Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR), we are pleased to welcome you to Arizona State University. As you embark on the 2018-2019 year, we wish you great success and pledge to do all we can to ensure your experience is both valuable and fulfilling. You are among the best and the brightest with the talent and potential to truly excel, so we urge you to take full advantage of this outstanding opportunity.

Your decision to attend ASU is a wise one. ASU provides a vast array of rigorous and enlightening learning experiences that will help you build a solid foundation for your future. You will be exposed to world-class faculty members with lifetimes of learning and experience. We encourage you to embrace the opportunity to learn from them.  Many students find mentors among this outstanding faculty who positively influence them both as students and often well beyond graduation.

ABOR is the governing body for Arizona’s public universities, and we are committed to providing you with an outstanding educational opportunity. We hope you make the most of your time at ASU and have a few suggestions to help you in your efforts:

Take advantage of campus resources – With a wide range of resources available from career guidance, health advice, networking opportunities as well as advice on ways to become a better student, you can find help for almost any issue or concern. Identify your needs and reach out to take advantage of ASU’s many support services.

Work hard – Dedication to your studies is essential and will have a significant impact on your success and growth during your years at ASU. Manage your time wisely; attend classes; turn assignments in on time; and study to ensure academic success.

Be safe – While university life is exciting, make good choices; familiarize yourself with campus and with ASU’s many resources to help keep you safe.

Embrace campus life – Involvement in clubs and organizations on campus can contribute to your growth as an individual. Find the time to explore and discover your interests. While we want you to work hard, extracurricular activities will help you balance your personal and academic life, expand your social circle and help you perfect skills not always found in the classroom.

And, enjoy this time – These years will be among the most memorable of your life. Appreciate the enormity of this opportunity as you make lifelong friends, engage with some of the brightest minds in the world and learn new concepts that broaden your knowledge and understanding of the world around us.

Welcome to ASU; we wish you the best year ever.

Go Devils!
