Loan Entrance Counseling

If you are a first-time ASU borrower of a federal student loan, you must complete a Loan Entrance Counseling. This quick and easy online counseling session will help to ensure that you understand the responsibility and obligation you are assuming when borrowing this type of student loan. Each online session will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Before the Financial Aid and Scholarship Services office is able to disburse loan funds, it must have record that you have completed a Loan Entrance Counseling session for each type of loan you accepted.

ASU's partner, iGrad, is an easy-to-use, personalized financial resource. Use it to complete your loan entrance counseling, track your student loans, and watch helpful videos about smart borrowing, financial strategies while you're in school and preparing for repayment.

When you borrow a loan, the loan will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and will be accessible by authorized agencies, lenders, and institutions. Learn more about the NSLDS on iGrad.

Please be aware that it can take up to 3-5 business days for our office to receive notification that you completed your loan entrance counseling.
