International Orientation

ASU hosts a number of welcome events for incoming international students. These fun, informative and interactive programs offer an overview on a wide variety of topics that will help you meet new friends and learn about ASU.

If you are living at the Downtown Phoenix, Polytechnic or West campus, ASU will provide free transportation to and from the Tempe campus to welcome events.

Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017

Graduate Student International Orientation
9 – 11:30 a.m.
Gammage, Tempe campus

Students will have the opportunity to meet ASU leadership, learn about campus resources and connect with other international students.

International Graduate Student Conference Part 1
12:30 – 5 p.m.
Memorial Union, Tempe campus

Designed for graduate students, Day 1 of this two-part conference will cover graduate-level academic expectations, culture at ASU and will introduce important ASU resources.

Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA) Welcome Event
5:30 – 8 p.m.
Location TBD

Learn more about graduate student organizations and meet with other new graduate students. Appetizers provided.

Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017

International Graduate Student Conference Part 2
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Memorial Union

Designed for graduate students, Day 2 of this two-part conference will cover graduate-level professional development services, employment regulations and an opportunity to hear from ASU international alumni. 

Graduate Student Resource Fair
1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Memorial Union

Mingle, network and learn about student clubs and services available for graduate or professional students. 

Faces of ASU

ASU Gammage

A fun and interactive student led performance to celebrate the diversity of ASU!

Undergraduate International Orientation Part 1
9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Gammage auditorium and Memorial Union

The information at orientation will help you transition to the U.S. and ASU. Attendance is mandatory. Please bring your ASU Student Identification Card to check in. If you are unable to bring an ASU Student Identification Card, you will need to provide your ASU Student ID Number as well as another form of photo identification.

GPSA Student Panels
10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Memorial Union

Hear from ASU faculty and ask current graduate students questions about life at ASU.

Taste of America
5:30 – 7 p.m.
Engrained Cafe, Memorial Union

While networking with international alumni, come learn about and taste different food and drink found in the U.S.

Shopping Trip to Target 
7 - 11 p.m.
Tempe campus, Busses pick up outside WPC 
The ideal opportunity to purchase anything you may still need.

Undergraduate International Orientation Part 2 – College Meetings
9:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Memorial Union

Students will have the opportunity to meet with staff and advisors from their specific college or school to learn about resources and programs that are available for students. Additionally, students will get the chance to meet and interact with students from similar majors in order to make connections.

Student Services Open House
3 – 5 p.m.
Student Services Building, first-floor atrium

Celebrate the end of international orientation week while learning about resources available to students from departments that are located within the Student Services Building.  Appetizers will be served.  Students interested in the International Friendship Program should attend in order to connect with an ASU Community Member. 

Carnival Dance Party
5 – 8 p.m.
Sun Devil Fitness Complex, Maroon Gym

The Coalition of International Students invites you to a night of fun games, free food and a dance party.
