Health Insurance

Arizona State University requires that international students have adequate medical and accident insurance coverage. All international students must enroll in the ASU health insurance plan. Medical coverage charges are included in the student accounts billing.

There is a special provision for students who have health insurance through their government or who are under the sponsorship of an agency that is responsible for their educational expenses, including medical coverage. All such coverage must be pre-approved and be equal or better than the coverage provided by the ASU policy.

Certain dependents of employees who have coverage through their U.S. employers can be granted an insurance exception. Students who are exempt from enrolling in the ASU insurance plan must obtain a waiver each semester. No waivers are granted after the second week of classes. For further information visit ASU Health Services.

Health Services

International students can access ASU Health Services for medical treatment by physicians in our on-campus student health centers. ASU also offers wellness and counseling services.
