Get paid to play Minecraft and gain research experience

The Arizona State University Center for Human-AI-Robot Teaming, directed by Dr. Nancy Cooke, is recruiting participants for a remote DoD-funded Minecraft study where you will search and rescue victims in a collapsed building in a Minecraft world. This is a two-session study. In Session 1 (about 1 hour), you will check in to make sure your software is installed appropriately and fill out a survey. In Session 2 (about 2 hours), you will play the Minecraft games and complete related surveys. When you finish Session 2, you will receive a $45 Amazon Gift Card.
To participate in the study, you will need to meet the following requirements:
  • Live in the United States.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Can communicate in English.
  • Have experience playing Minecraft with a mouse and keyboard.
  • Have reliable internet access.
  • Have a computer with a stand-alone mouse (avoid trackpad), keyboard, microphone, and a webcam. Please note that we will record your activities and voice during the experiment in Session 2 with your consent.
  • Computers running Windows OS are preferred, but Mac users are welcome.
  • Have normal color vision: if you are not sure, you can check using free online color vision tests, like this one.
  • Be able to join a Zoom call. If you do not have Zoom yet, you can download Zoom for free.
  • Be willing to download Minecraft mods and Forge to participate (we will also instruct you how to uninstall them after the experiment).
