Important Notes Regarding SAP Review

  • Inability to pass course material is not an extenuating circumstance.
  • In all cases, the outcome of your appeal will depend on the nature of the circumstances preventing you from meeting the SAP standard(s), the quality of the documentation provided and how well you have demonstrated the ability to progress toward degree completion within a reasonable time limit.
  • If you have completed credit hours for your first degree and have exceeded 150%, you will not be approved for additional federal financial assistance. Future eligibility will be granted if you are pursing a second baccalaureate or are attending in an approved certificate program.
  • If you are exceeding 200 credits, your appeal will be reviewed by an executive committee. Committee decisions are final. No future appeals will be approved.
  • Repeat appeals will be denied unless you have new and extenuating circumstances.
  • If your appeal is denied, you have the following options:
    • Attend ASU by paying with personal resources or a private student loan. Private student loans require an application and credit approval; check with your lender to determine if your SAP status is applicable to receiving your loan.
    • If you did not meet the pace rate standard, and after you have completed future semesters, you may request re-evaluation of your pace rate. If your pace rate meets or exceeds the 67% requirement you may be approved for the following term, but not prior terms.
