Arellano Scholarship for Survivor of Domestic Violence

ASU Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of The Arellano Scholarship for Survivors of Domestic Violence for the 2010-11 academic year. This scholarship fund has been established as a legacy to carry on the long-standing tradition of education that the Arellano name upholds. This scholarship also serves to honor Arnold Arellano, father of the donor, who has shown the donor through example that there is such a thing as love that does not hurt and that women are not property, but are human beings worthy of healthy love and respect.

Shirley G. Schmitz Foundation, INC.

The Shirley G. Schmitz Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, provides scholarships for education and training leading to starting and operating a business. Acceptable programs include formal college courses offered by accredited universities and community colleges. Applicants may apply for the scholarship between March 1 and June 1. Scholarship recipients can reapply for additional scholarships for up to two additional years. These additional years have incremental increases in the dollar amounts.

This scholarship requires the following additional eligibility criteria/information:

  • Recipients must have a high school degree or equivalent and must be enrolled in school during the school year for which the scholarship is awarded.
  • Special attention is accorded to those with entrepreneurial goals as a part of their future.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a need for supplemental financial assistance to meet these goals.
  • Applicants may apply for the scholarship between March 1 and June 1. Applications received after June 1 will not be considered.

Sallie Mae Fund

The Sallie Mae Fund sponsors several scholarship programs and supports hundreds of other college scholarships. All of our programs are based on finacial need, as The Fund seeks to bridge the dollar gap when no one else can. Addressing financial need through scholarships is a key priority of The Sallie Mae Fund. Applications, eligibility and deadline information for scholarships for the 2007-2008 academic year will be available starting mid-January 2007, except where noted, at The Sallie Mae Fund’s Web site, www.salliemaefund.org.

Jim Armstrong is a co‐founder and Chairman of JDA Software Group, Inc., a publicly traded corporation headquartered in Arizona. The Armstrongs established the Armstrong Family Foundation in 1996 as a charitable corporation providing financial grants to non‐profit organizations that relieve human hardship among needy and worthy individuals, families and groups, and supporting the advancement of education.

  • Be an incoming freshman, freshman or sophomore; an Arizona resident and an orphan, ward of the court, in foster care or qualified independent student under the age of 21 at the time of first award of this scholarship.
  • Must be admitted to Arizona State University by the application deadline above and enrolled (or plan to enroll) as a full time freshman (24 credit hours per academic year) at ASU during the 2010‐11 academic year.

Since 1958, AIS has designed many valuable programs which assist them towards self-sufficiency and building better communities.
