Arizona Colleen and Rose of Tralee

Young women ages 18-27 years old by February 7, 2010 that have at least a little Irish ancestry may apply. The Colleen is a spokesperson for the Arizona Irish Community in area events and rides in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Phoenix. It's a great heritage competition with judging based on poise, personality, ability to communicate well, and talent. The Colleen wins a trip to Ireland and $1000 in scholarships.

United Negro College Fund

Since 1985, the UNCF Scholarships and Grants Administration office has awarded in scholarship assistance over $105 million to over 28,000 students enrolled in its 39 member colleges and universities and other HBCUs and majority institutions as well. We provide support in numerous ways to a variety of constituencies. Once students complete a UNCF General Scholarship application, the information will be used to match them to many of the specific programs administered by UNCF.

National Physical Science Consortium

The National Physical Science Consortium is a unique partnership between industry, government agencies and laboratories, and higher education. Established in 1987, the NPSC is headquartered in Los Angeles. The NPSC has one primary objective: Increase the number of qualified U.S.-citizen Ph.D.'s in the physical sciences and related engineering fields, emphasizing recruitment of a diverse applicant pool of women and historically underrepresented minorities.

  • Applicants should be in one of the following categories:
    • Be in your senior year with at least a 3.0/4.0 GPA
    • Be in your first year of a graduate program pursuing a Ph.D.
    • Be in a terminal master's program (your university offers no Ph.D. in your discipline).
    • Be returning from the workforce with no more than a master's degree
    • Be near the point of beginning your dissertation research.
  • You should apply in the fall of the year before the year in which you expect to begin the fellowship. For example, if you plan to start graduate school in the fall of 2005, or begin your dissertation research in 2005, you should apply in the fall of 2004.

Hispanic Student Nurse Scholarship

The $1,000 scholarship award is to assist in the professional development of a Hispanic nursing student pursuing academic endeavors in nursing.

  • nursing student of Hispanic descent
  • be accepted into an L.P.N., A.D.N., B.S.N., M.S.N. or Doctoral Program in nursing
  • resident of Maricopa County
  • current transcripts from the school that the student is enrolled in (unofficial are accepted)
  • One of the following two:
    1. Written essay on the following topic: "What can you as a Hispanic nurse bring to the nursing profession." The essay should be 1-2 double-space typewritten pages and be grammatically correct. Original, creative ideas, which provoke stimulating thoughts, are encouraged.
    2. Two letters of recommendation from teachers stating why you should be considered for the scholarship.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

HSF provides more college financial aid to the Hispanic community than any other organization in the country, with $195 million in scholarships granted to date. HSF offers financial aid to graduating high-school seniors, community-college students seeking to transfer to four-year universities, continuing university students seeking to complete their degrees and to students in graduate and professional programs.

  • You must be Hispanic/Latino to apply. This means that you or your family come from at least one of the following countries: Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Cuba, Puerto Rico, or the Dominican Republic. Students from Brazil are eligible to apply. However, students from Belize, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana are not considered Hispanic.
  • Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents with a valid permanent resident card or a passport stamped I-551 (not expired) at the time of submission of their application.
  • With the exception of the Community College Transfer Programs, you must be enrolled full time at the time that you apply and continue to be enrolled full-time during the academic year in which you receive funds from us.
  • It is required that HSF applicants file a FAFSA.

Catching the Dream Scholarship

CTD's objective is to recognize and reward outstanding student achievement. This supplemental award is intended to help American Indian students of any age, from any tribe, within any state, striving to get an education.

This scholarship requires the following additional eligibility criteria/information:

  • Since CTD is a supplemental aid program, applicants are required to apply for all other sources of funding for which they are eligible. Applicants who do not apply for other aid will not have their applicant evaluated. Submit copies of applications and responses for all other source funding.
  • Must be an enrolled member and possess one-quarter or more American Indian blood from a federally recognized, state recognized, or terminated U.S. Tribe. Submit a copy of certificate of Indian Blood.
  • FNA (financial needs analysis) that has been completed by the applicant's institutional financial aid officer
  • three letters of recommendation

BHP Billiton Annual Community Scholarship

The scholarship committee from BHP Billiton, New Mexico Coal will select the scholarship recipients based on field of study, academic excellence and achievement, and evaluation of the letter submitted.
