Gideon's Story

ASU Student Profiles

Major: Leadership in International Management
Hometown: Douglas, AZ

Growing up in a small town and with big dreams, attending a university sometimes seemed out of reach for sophomore, Gideon Hod. "I used to think I wouldn't be able to afford college," Gideon said.

Gideon, a leadership in international management major at the West campus, selected ASU for its lower tuition and because he wanted to stay in state. He started the admission and financial aid process early. "It's important to get a head start on everything if you plan to go to college," he said.

His proactive attitude paid off; all his expenses were covered by the scholarship and numerous grants he was awarded. He also was awarded work-study. "My work-study job is great; it keeps me busy and pays the bills so I didn't have to accept any of the loans I was offered," he said. "It was nice to know they were there in case I did have the need."

Gideon's major encourages sutdents to study abraod for a semester. It's great because my financial aid will transfer to the study abroad program so I wont' have to worry about financiing those costs". After he graduates Gideon aspires to work abroad in the automobile industry.
