Cierra's Story

Major: Early Childhood Education
Hometown: Tempe, AZ

Cierra is a sophomore following her dream of teaching by majoring in early childhood education. From a young age, Cierra knew she wanted to attend ASU. "It's the only university I've ever been interested in," she said.

Initially she was intimidated by the financial aid process, unsure of what kind of aid would be offered. Her anxieties were often short-lived; she soon found the process to be easy and hassle-free. Her unique situation made her eligible for the ASU Advantage program (now the Obama Scholars program), as well as numerous grants and work-study opportunities.

"Don't let anything discourage you from applying for financial aid to pursue your education," says Cierra, "No matter what your family can or can't contribute, there is always some sort of aid that can help you reach your goals for the future."
