About the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities upholds the values and traditions of Arizona State University. The core values, called the Sun Devil Way, are achievement, engagement and responsibility. Students on all ASU campuses are encouraged to become involved in campus activities, to work hard to achieve goals and dreams, and take responsibility as a citizen of the university community.
The Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities at Arizona State University fosters the intellectual, personal, social, and ethical development of the individual student. Our role is to facilitate a student conduct process in which students and student organizations are treated fairly. We respect student rights and are committed to assisting students in understanding their responsibilities as members of the ASU community while balancing the interests of the individual student or student organization with the needs of the community at large.
Mission
The Student Code of Conduct balances the rights and needs of the individual with the responsibility of the individual to meet the needs of the community.
In keeping with this mission, The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities staff reviews allegations of student misconduct, determines whether a violation has occurred, and, if applicable, imposes appropriate sanctions. The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities staff strives to find resolutions to allegations of student misconduct through the use of mediation techniques and other sanctions, as permitted, which aid in the student’s overall personal development.
