SWE (Society of Women Engineers) Scholarships

Scholarship Description The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women admitted to accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. In fiscal year 2005, SWE disbursed more than 130 new and renewed scholarships valued at more than $300,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria: 

This scholarship requires the following additional criteria/information:

  • scholarships are only open to women
  • must be enrolled in or accepted in a baccalaureate (or graduate) ABET/CSAB accredited engineering or computer science degree program
    • Computer Science at the Tempe campus
    • Aerospace Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Bioengineering at the Tempe campus
    • Chemical Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Civil Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Computer Systems Engineering at the Tempe
    • campus Electrical Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Industrial Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Materials Science and Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Mechanical Engineering at the Tempe campus
    • Electronic(s) Engineering Technology at the Polytechnic campus
    • Manufacturing Engineering Technology at the Polytechnic campus
    • Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Polytechnic campus
  • minimum GPA is 3.5/4.0 for freshman applicants and 3.0/4.0 for sophomore, junior, senior & graduate applicants
  • no minimum GPA for first year reentry applicants
  • must not currently be recipient of a renewable SWE Scholarship
  • must be a full time student, except for reentry applicants
  • must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the US
  • must not be receiving full funding for education from another organization
  • reentry scholarships are intended for students returning to school after at least two years out of school and have been out of the engineering workforce
Additional Information Recipients are announced in the late spring (sophomore, junior, senior & graduate students) and late summer/early fall (freshmen & reentry students) for use during the following academic year.
