Scholarship Description The Shirley G. Schmitz Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, provides scholarships for education and training leading to starting and operating a business. Acceptable programs include formal college courses offered by accredited universities and community colleges. Applicants may apply for the scholarship between March 1 and June 1. Scholarship recipients can reapply for additional scholarships for up to two additional years. These additional years have incremental increases in the dollar amounts.

Additional Eligibility Criteria: 

This scholarship requires the following additional eligibility criteria/information:

  • Recipients must have a high school degree or equivalent and must be enrolled in school during the school year for which the scholarship is awarded.
  • Special attention is accorded to those with entrepreneurial goals as a part of their future.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a need for supplemental financial assistance to meet these goals.
  • Applicants may apply for the scholarship between March 1 and June 1. Applications received after June 1 will not be considered.
