If you are a Federal Pell Grant recipient, your student record will be evaluated for an award of up to $750 for the first academic year of study and up to $1,300 for the second academic year of study from this federally-funded grant program.
In addition to being a Federal Pell Grant recipient, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be enrolled at least half-time;
- be a first-year or second-year undergraduate student or a student in a certificate program of at least one year in a degree program at a two-year or four-year degree-granting institution;
- have completed a rigorous secondary school program of study; and either:
- an entering freshman who has completed a "rigorous secondary school program," as designated by the state in which the student resided when completing the program
- a sophomore who has completed a "rigorous secondary school program," and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA during your first year of undergraduate study.
For a listof recognized rigorous programs of secondary school study in your state visit www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/about/ac-smart/state-programs.html.
Annual award amounts may be reduced by the U.S. Department of Education, if sufficient funds are not available for all eligible students in an award year.
Potentially eligible students will be contacted by the U.S. Department of Education. Students will be directed to a Web site to determine if they have completed a "rigorous secondary school program" to possibly qualify.
The amount of ACG, in combination with Federal Pell Grant and other financial aid cannot exceed demonstrated financial need.
Eligible students will be notified in late August.
