academic level

The number of regular enrollment credits successfully completed (including transfer credits) determines academic level for students seeking their first undergraduate degree.

Undergraduate Academic Level Credit Requirement

  • Freshman: 0–24
  • Sophmore: 25–55
  • Junior: 56–86
  • Senior: 87+
academic year
A period of time schools use to measure a quantity of study. At ASU, the academic year is defined as the fall and spring semesters combined (August–May), during which a full-time student must complete 24 credit hours. The summer semester is considered a trailer to the academic year (August–July).

Regarding Financial Aid
You must be attending school at least half-time to be eligible for a Stafford Loan. Half-time enrollment is not a requirement to receive aid from the Federal Pell Grant program (see Financial Aid Census Policy ).
