Traveling Scholar

The Traveling Scholars Program of the Arizona University system enables a student to take advantage of programs or special resources available on another state university campus not available at their own institution. Traveling scholars are approved for a period of one semester, however, this may be extended by mutual agreement of both institutions. A degree-seeking student, enrolled full-time at one state university (Sponsoring University) may enroll for one or more courses at a second state university (Host University) and receive a waiver of admission requirements and application fee at the second university, and a guarantee of acceptance of credits earned by the sponsoring institution at which the student is seeking a degree. To be considered for the Traveling Scholar Program, a student must meet the following qualifications:

Good Standing; meet the minimum requirement for cumulative GPA:

  • 2.5 for undergraduates
  • 3.0 for graduate students

Full-time Enrollment at ASU, NAU, or U of A in the same semester that the student will be designated as a traveling scholar:

  • 7 credit hours for students paying resident tuition
  • 12 credit hours for students paying non-resident tuition

Degree-Seeking:

Enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking program at the sponsoring university.

As a participant in the traveling scholar program the student may receive:

Waivers from the Host University:

  • admission requirements
  • application fees
  • tuition fees

Guarantee from the Sponsoring University:

acceptance of earned credits
