Frequently Asked Questions - Teacher Questions
- I am a teacher and want to take classes; can I pay in-state tuition?
- The exception to the 12 months of presence allowed by state law only applies to classes needed for state teacher certification for your current job. Classes for additional certifications, endorsements or another degree are not included.
- ASU offers some classes within my school district; can I pay resident fees for those classes?
- Yes, there is a provision in the Board of Regents policy, that allows teachers to pay resident tuition for seven or less semester hours for classes at an off campus location. The classes are through the College of Education and are listed under courses offered at Extended Campus locations. The teacher must be employed in the school district where the classes are held to qualify for this exception. Contact your school district or ASU Office of Extended Education at (480) 965-9797 for more information.
- Can student teachers use the teacher exception to pay resident tuition?
- No, student teachers are not eligible for the teacher exception.
